GOALIE Project Launch

GOALIE is a non-inferiority trial taking place in Northern Uganda, Lira District, looking at the efficacy of oral penicillin compared to intramuscular penicillin. As an extension of the GOAL trial, GOALIE will implement many of the same strategies such as case manager support and monthly peer groups where the participants receive their designated form of penicillin, fun activities, and family/community support.

Currently, the GOALIE team is doing active case finding in schools, community awareness campaigns, and running 3 peer groups.

The first participants were enrolled in October 2023 and data collection is ongoing with enrollment set to be complete by the end of 2024.
